Crockett B. Boothe

Crockett Boothe, 51, served as a Dog Warden and Constable for McDowell County, West Virginia. He was shot and beaten to death while investigating reports of animal cruelty at a home near Falls Creek. Upon arrival, Boothe knocked on the front door, but no one answered. Boothe went around to the side of the house to look through an open window. While looking inside, Constable Boothe was grabbed by two men and pulled inside the home. The suspects, Roger Jones (23) and Emery Hurley (18), stripped him of his service weapon and then shot him multiple times before beating him. A third suspect, Harvey Lawson (19), was also arrested. It was reported that Boothe was attempting to rescue several neglected dogs from the property when he was attacked.
