David Fleetwood

Ross Township (PA) Zoning Officer David Fleetwood, 62, was murdered with 2 residents in a mass shooting at a town meeting. The convicted suspect, Newell Rockewell, had a running property dispute spanning 18 years and in August 2013 was notified by the town that he had to leave the property. The suspect went to the meeting with a handgun and opened fire at town officials. Two residents were able to tackle him, grab his weapon, and hold him until he was arrested and convicted. He was sentenced to life in prison. David Fleetwood had a 40 year career in public service and was a Navy veteran. He also served as an elected township supervisor for neighboring Chestnuthill Township.
