Murder

John Hosier

Assistant City Dog Catcher John Hosier went to a residence to investigate complaints about three vicious dogs on the property. The owner, Charles Crandall, refused to restrain the dogs. One of the dogs attempted to attack Hosier, causing him to draw his revolver to shoot at the dog. Crandall then drew his own weapon and shot Hosier once in the left shoulder. The bullet severed a main artery resulting in exsanguination within minutes. Crandall was arrested for murder but was found insane at the time of the trial and was committed to a hospital for the criminally insane.
