Karel Van Noppen

Health Inspector Karel Van Noppen was assassinated near his home as a result of his investigation into a criminal network dubbed the “hormone mafia.” The hormone mafia was an organized crime group of traders in illegal animal growth hormones who used the substance to fatten up cattle for market. Van Noppen received threats for weeks prior to his murder by hitmen hired by the Mafia. No arrests have been made for the murder of Van Noppen.
