Lisa Marie Melancon

Initially from Sacramento, California, Lisa relocated to Tacoma in 1995. A fight broke out in her neighborhood while she was off-duty. She called 911 and stood on her porch when she was struck by gunfire. Witnesses reported that as the suspect fled in a car, the suspect Olujimi Blakeney fired blindly from the front seat. Lisa, 40, was struck in the head and passed away. A 75 vehicle procession and over 400 people paid their respects at City Hall. The 26 year old suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to 53 years in prison.
