Loren E. Johnson

Dog Catcher Loren Johnson, 51, was attacked by a local resident who owned a dog that kept bark and howling. The city declared the dog a "howling nuisance" and threatened to remove it. During the court proceedings Jones testified "I went out there and hit him with my fist, that's all. I guess I hit him pretty hard because he went out." He denied hitting Johnson with a club, although witnesses testified. Jones was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to one to 15 years in state prison.
